Mediation With Your Own Attorney

Choosing mediation does not mean going it alone. If you want to settle out of court but also want someone in your corner, you can mediate with your own attorney representing you throughout the process.

Atlanta Holistic Family Law can represent you in the mediation process. That means we sit with you before mediation to understand your priorities, advise you on Georgia law as it applies to your situation, and prepare you for the conversations that will happen at the table. During mediation we help you weigh proposals in real time so you never feel pushed to agree to something you do not understand. After the session, we review every term of the written agreement before you sign, so the final document is fair, complete, and enforceable.

This is a different role from a neutral mediator. A neutral mediator guides both spouses toward an agreement and represents neither party. That model works well for couples who are already aligned and simply need a structured conversation to finalize the details. When one or both spouses want individual legal advice while still keeping the process cooperative and out of court, represented mediation is the better fit.

We offer both paths. Some couples come to us and hire us as their neutral mediator. Others hire us to represent one spouse in a mediation led by another neutral. The right choice depends on how aligned the two of you already are, how complex the finances and parenting decisions are, and how much individual guidance you want along the way.

The two-minute quiz is designed to help you see which of these paths matches your situation. It asks about the basics that determine whether mediation will work at all, and the answers point toward either the neutral Weekend Divorce process or a represented mediation with your own attorney.
